Eco Responsibility

Black Cats Graphics and Function Invitations operate from a large office on an organic farm in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. I spent almost 7 years working for a leading environmental company and 5 years of tertiary study on the environment and sustainability. We strongly believe in living and working as sustainably and as gently on the earth as possible. By working from the farm and using Sustainable Business Practices, we are able to:

• re-use all of our sewerage and grey water, for irrigation, with the use of a 4 stage aerobic/anaerobic waste water treatment system
• all of our water is pumped up from a large well so we do not rely on town supply
• we heat 100% of our hot water using a boiler system which burns wood and rubbish from on the farm
• use the hot water to also heat the towel rails and run the central heating system
• we have two sustainable yield coppice wood lots on the farm
• we grow some of our own fruit and vegetables
• we have just under 100 free range hens for fresh eggs
• we are totally vegetarian – even the hens are safe!
• we re-use and recycle everything possible, including paper in the office
• because we don’t commute to work, our carbon miles are extremely low
